Hormonal Imbalances 2018-05-29T12:28:40+00:00

Are you in pain each month? Are all your emotions all over the place? Have you found that the pill wasn’t for you?  Are over the counter pain killers just not working anymore? Have you been experiencing other signs and symptoms that just don’t feel right?

If you answered YES to any of the questions above, you may have a Hormonal Imbalance and seeing a Naturopath will help to regulate them. By balancing your hormones you will find relief in the symptoms that you have been experiencing.

Hormonal Imbalances can bring about a number of different but common symptoms that all women at some stage will experience. They can include:

  1. Weight Gain

We all know that our diet and lack of physical exercise can result in weight gain, aren’t you sick of trying every day and it’s not getting you anywhere? That’s because that’s not the end of the story. Hormonal Imbalances can make it extremely difficult for some women to maintain their weight. Making small changes to your diet like excluding processed foods, sugars and wheat are the first steps in the right direction.

  1. Belly Fat

When we are under stress our hormones like to play tricks on us, some become overactive and others become lazy. This makes our body store fat for future use, which in turn increases our belly fat which can lead to a more serious condition called Adrenal Fatigue.

  1. Fatigue

Has it become an effort to get out of bed in the mornings? Can’t get past lunch time without wanted to go back to bed? Or Are you crashing around 3pm? It isn’t normal to feel sluggish, tired, or feeling mentally foggy, especially if you slept the night before.

  1. Anxiety, Depression and Irritability

Have you been feeling like someone else latterly? Have you wanted to just lay in bed and put the covers over your head? These feelings can make you feel overwhelmed and make you want a quick fix solution. This is not the time to go to your local pharmacy. This is your body’s way of saying ‘I need nourishment’ Anxiety and Depression are clues that you have an imbalance, overworked or stressed. Listen to that inner voice that is telling you “this is not normal” and take action.

  1. Insomnia and poor sleep

By the time you have hit the ‘I can’t sleep’ stage, it means your body has already hit the ‘I can’t handle this stress anymore’ stage. Physical stress increases our cortisol levels, which is a direct connection to hormonal imbalances. When you experience insomnia there isn’t an area of your life that is not effected.

  1. Digestive Problems

Gas, bloating and a slow digestion are common in women that have hormonal imbalances, but it can also have a direct connection with the food you are eating (craving sugar or salty foods) When you don’t have optimal digestion, your body is starving for more nutritious foods.

  1. Cravings

How many times have you gone for that bottle of wine, or that second piece of cake and looked back and asked yourself why? The common causes of cravings and excessive eating are Adrenal Fatigue, Insulin resistance and yes you guessed it Hormonal Imbalances. When we cut certain foods from our everyday diet (although it can be hard at first) not only will it help with controlling cravings, it will also help with your digestion issues.
